Wonil Sunim, Head Dharma Teacher of Providence Zen Center, serves as host for long retreats at Diamond Hill Zen Monastery. He has completed many 3-month retreats in both the United States and South Korea, as well as several 100-day solo retreats. A practitioner since the late 1980s, he has been a resident of Providence Zen Center, Dharma Zen Center in Los Angeles, Taegosa in the Mojave Desert, and various Zen monasteries in Korea. A fully ordained bhikkhu in the Jogye Order, he completed formal monastic training at Baekdamsa, in Inje County, Gangwon Province, South Korea--the only dedicated training monastery for Zen monks in Korea.
